Spyfall rules, in one table

If you know Spyfall, you know this game. If you do not, this table is the whole thing — nothing is hidden and nothing needs unlocking.

The rules as Mystery Agents plays them
RuleDetail
SetupType in everyone's name on one phone. Pick how many spies (one to three, by table size) and a 6, 8 or 10 minute clock.
RolesThe phone is passed around; each player opens their card in private. Agents see the location and a role. The spy sees nothing.
QuestioningPlayers take turns asking each other questions about the location — specific enough to catch the spy, vague enough not to give the place away.
VotingOne vote each, never for yourself. A tie means nobody is caught and the spy scores.
The spy's gambleThe spy can call the location mid-round. Right, the spy wins outright. Wrong, the agents win outright.
ScoreCarries across rounds and can be reset any time.

The rule most tables get wrong: a tie does not mean pick someone anyway. A tie is a win for the spy — the agents must agree on one suspect before the clock runs out.

Two ways to play

Same game, same rules — the only difference is how many phones you use.

  1. Option 1

Pass one phone around · 3-8 players

One device for the whole table. Each player opens their card in private and hands it on. Best when you are already sitting together, and it keeps working if the signal drops — once the page has loaded a round needs no network.

  2. Option 2

    Online, a device each · 3-10 players

Create a room and share the code or link. Everyone opens their own role on their own phone, with room chat and voice built in, so the table does not have to be one physical table.

The Spyfall locations list — all 32 in this version

Mystery Agents ships its own location set: 32 locations covering 163 roles, each written in both English and Thai. The current set:

Airport · Amusement Park · Bank · Basketball Court · Beauty Salon · Bookstore · Bus Depot · Coffee Shop · Diving School · Factory · Farm · Flower Shop · Gym · Hospital · Laundry Shop · Library · Luxury Hotel · Music Store · Police Station · Public Park · Restaurant · School · Shopping Mall · Stationery Shop · Theater · Toy Store · Train Station · Vegetable Garden · Water Park · Yoga Studio · Zoo — and more roles inside each than any table finishes in one night.

Knowing the list is part of the game: the spy stares at these same names while pretending to know which one everyone else is in.

Games like Spyfall: how Mystery Agents differs

Most online Spyfall versions give every player a link to open on their own phone. That works — until someone's browser sleeps, someone else has no signal, and the table spends five minutes debugging instead of playing.

  1. One device

The whole game on one phone

No lobby links, no per-player connections. The phone is the deck — it gets passed around, and once the page has loaded a round never needs the internet again.

  2. Two languages

    Full Thai and English

Menus, all 32 locations and all 163 roles are written in both languages — the only version of this game with a complete Thai table.

  3. Real rules

    Ties and spy-guesses handled properly

A tied vote scores for the spy instead of picking a random victim, and the spy can gamble on calling the location — the sharp edges that make the game fair.

  4. Free, actually

No account, no ads mid-round, no cost

There is nothing to unlock and nobody to register. Open the link and deal.

Common questions

Can I play Spyfall online for free?

Yes. Mystery Agents is a free Spyfall-style game that runs entirely in the browser — no download, no account, no cost. One phone is passed around a table of 3 to 8 players.

Is Mystery Agents the same game as Spyfall?

Same family of hidden-role game — everyone knows the location except one spy who has to blend in. Mystery Agents is an independent game with its own 32 locations and 163 roles, built for a single shared phone, in English and Thai.

How many players do you need?

Three to eight sharing one phone, or three to ten in an online room. Five to seven is the sweet spot.

Do all players need their own phone?

No — one phone for the whole table. Each player opens their card in private and passes it on.

How does the spy win?

Survive the vote, or call the location mid-round and get it right. Calling it wrong hands the win to the agents.
