Spyfall-style board game · Free · Nothing to install
A Spyfall-style hidden-spy game for one phone and a table of friends
Everyone at the table is told where the round is set and who they are — except one player, the spy, who is told nothing at all. Questions go round while the clock runs. When it stops, everybody votes at once.
- 3-10 players
- 6-10 minutes a round
- 32 locations · 163 roles
- English / ไทย
- No account needed
How it works
Nothing to prepare beyond one phone and people sitting together. If you have played Spyfall you already know the shape of it. If you have not, these four steps are the whole game.
-
Step 1
Type in everyone's name
Three to eight players on one phone, or up to ten online. Choose how many spies the round gets (one to three, depending on table size) and whether the clock runs 6, 8 or 10 minutes.
-
Step 2
Open your card, then pass the phone
Each player takes the phone and looks at their own card alone: the location for this round and their role in it. The spy sees only the word spy. Close the card and hand it on.
-
Step 3
Ask questions, listen for guesswork
The clock starts. Anyone can ask anyone. A good question is vague enough not to name the place outright, and pointed enough to expose someone who is improvising. The spy is listening for the same clues, trying to work out where everyone is.
-
Step 4
Time runs out, the table votes
One vote each, and you cannot vote for yourself. Whoever collects the most votes is revealed, the round is scored, and the running totals carry into the next one.
Two ways to play
Same game, same rules — the only difference is how many phones you use.
-
Option 1
Pass one phone around · 3-8 players
One device for the whole table. Each player opens their card in private and hands it on. Best when you are already sitting together, and it keeps working if the signal drops — once the page has loaded a round needs no network.
-
Option 2
Online, a device each · 3-10 players
Create a room and share the code or link. Everyone opens their own role on their own phone, with room chat and voice built in, so the table does not have to be one physical table.
The full rules
Every rule is in this one table. Nothing is hidden and nothing needs unlocking.
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Players | Three to eight sharing one phone, or three to ten online with a device each. No two players may share a name. |
| Spies | One to three, capped at the number of players divided by three, so a small table gets exactly one. |
| Round length | 6, 8 or 10 minutes. The clock stops at zero rather than running negative. |
| Dealing roles | One player at a time on a single device. Nobody sees anyone else's card. |
| Voting | One vote each, never for yourself. A tie means nobody is caught and the spy scores. |
| Spy calls the location | Available mid-round. Right, the spy wins outright. Wrong, the agents win outright. |
| Score | Carries across rounds, shown on the scoreboard, and can be reset at any time. |
| Location set | 32 locations covering 163 roles, written in both Thai and English. |
The rule most tables get wrong: a tie does not mean pick someone anyway. A tie is a win for the spy. That is why the agents have to agree on a suspect before the clock runs out, rather than each voting for whoever they personally suspect.
Why it is easier to start than most
Most hidden-role board games — Spyfall included — die during setup. Everyone has to install the same app, or make an account, or one person has to sit out and run the deck. By the time that is done the moment has passed. If you searched for a way to play a Spyfall-style game online for free, this is that game, rebuilt so a table can start in under a minute.
Mystery Agents removes all of it. Open the link on whichever phone is nearest, type the names, start. There is no signup screen, no email field, nothing to install and no cost, because the whole game runs inside the browser on that one device.
Running on a single device also means it works where the signal does not — a basement restaurant, a moving car. Once the page has loaded, a round never needs to talk to a server again.
When it works best
This game earns its keep whenever a group has to be somewhere together with nothing to do, and nobody wants everyone staring at their own screen.
-
At a table
Waiting for food
A round runs about as long as the wait for a first course, and can be abandoned mid-way without losing anything.
-
With friends
Late, when the conversation runs dry
Rounds stack, and the running score gives everyone something to hold over each other.
-
With family
Older children can play
Nothing violent, nothing to read beyond a role card, and no ads interrupting a round.
-
At work
An icebreaker that needs no setup
No equipment to bring, and the rules take under a minute to explain to a room.
Common questions
How many players do you need?
Three to eight sharing one phone, or three to ten in an online room. Five to seven is the sweet spot: enough people to question without anyone waiting long for a turn. Three or four players makes for a fast round, which suits a queue or a wait for food.
Do I need to download an app or sign up?
Neither. Open the link in a browser and start. No email, no phone number, no cost.
How many phones does the table need?
One. The game is built to be passed around: each player opens their own card in private, then hands the phone on. Nobody else needs a device.
How can the spy win?
Two ways. Survive the vote, or call the location mid-round and get it right. Calling it wrong hands the win to the agents immediately, so it is a real bet.
What happens if the vote is tied?
Nobody is caught and the spy takes the points. The game never picks someone at random to break a tie.
Is Mystery Agents like Spyfall?
Same family of game: one hidden spy who does not know the location, blending in while everyone else asks questions. This is a free way to play that style of board game online — browser only, no app, one phone for the whole table.
Is it available in Thai?
Yes. Menus, all 32 locations and all 163 roles are written in both Thai and English, and you can switch language inside the game.
